What We Offer The 4-H Youth Development Program offers many programs for youth throughout the country and some around the world. 4-H offers projects to enrich skills, meetings to encourage social development and participation within society, camps, conferences, trips, exchange programs, and many other events meant to benefit the youth who are involved in this program. This page offers examples of a few opportunities available in 4-H. For more information, please contact the Butte County 4H Office at 530-538-7201. Meetings 4-H members who participate in a club may elect a board of officers and plan, implement, and evaluate an annual Plan of Work. A volunteer leader, the Community Club Leader, coaches the officers and members in activities and guides them as they develop their leadership abilities. Parents/Guardians of members can actively participate in discussions, but only 4-H members may vote on issues brought before the club. Meetings allow members and parents/guardians to share information and experiences. 4-H Projects Some projects offered by the 4-H program:
These projects may not be offered at all clubs. Contact Butte County 4H Office at 530-538-7201 for more information. More About Projects Projects allow members to learn by doing activities and completing planned objectives. Projects selection should be based on: interests, needs, time available, family situation, suitability to area of residence, and availability of necessary tools and equipment. Enrollment Fee Butte County 4-H adds a fee of $10.00 per youth and $14.00 per adult to the State fees of $30.00 per youth and $20.00 per adult. 10% of these fees are used for the printing of educational materials for Community Clubs and County projects and Butte County Council. 40% of the fees are also used to purchase educational curriculum for use by Butte County 4-H. 50% of the fees are used to reimburse volunteers for use of private vehicles transpoting members to various County, Regional and State Events. If this fee creates and undue financial burden Members may withhold payment at the Community Club level and send a letter requesting fees be waived to the Butte County 4-H office. Camp Rockin' U Summer Camp 4-H members can participate in the Camp Program. Each year, members are involved in a variety of sessions and activities which provide entertainment and learning opportunities. |
